The history of Studio Piet Boon
In 1983, Studio Piet Boon was founded in the municipality of Oostzaan (Netherlands), which is part of the Zaanstreek area. This region is known for its spirit of innovation and is considered the historical origin of the success of the Golden Age of the Netherlands. In Zaanstreek, carpenters, painters and other master craftsmen became entrepreneurs and tastemakers as early as the 15th century. This historical heritage, coupled with the company's own creative spirit and skills, formed the ideal basis for founder and designer Piet Boon to open his small design office. With this, Piet Boon specialized in the design of custom homes.
1886 Karin Meyn became part of the company as Creative Director Interior & Styling. Together Karin and Piet lead a large team of passionate architects, designers and stylists. Meanwhile, Studio Piet Boon is known worldwide and boasts an impressive portfolio of private, corporate and hospitality clients. Since 2005, the design studio has also been creating a high-end luxury furniture collection and in 2020, the Piet Boon Bathroom collection was also released. In keeping with its roots, Studio Piet Boon's headquarters with unique showrooms is still located in the Amsterdam area.
Designer Piet Boon
Dutch designer Piet Boon began his career as a construction contractor and founded Studio Piet Boon in 1983, which has grown into a global exterior, interior and product design studio. Clean lines and an emphasis on verticality are typical of his style. Piet Boon also designs houses and entire neighborhoods. In 2006, he designed a floating neighborhood near Almere in the Netherlands. He also constructed the new marina at Schelphoek in Hoorn. Together with professional stylist Karin Meyn, he runs Studio Piet Boon, which consists of a multidisciplinary design team.
